I have a Bravo. My standard HLX alloy wheels are 185/55/15. I am looking to buy some non standard 15" alloys and have been told that 195/45/15 tyres would be appropriate. Is this correct?

im currently using 195/50/15s on the standard wheels. outright gripis higher than 185/55 but the ride suffers noticeably.if theyre standard sized aftermarket wheels then stick with what you know.

Is that on 6J rims? - I thought HLX Mk1 and HGT Mk1 wheels are the same?

Looking at mine (HLX/GT), they are 6J with 185/55 V R15.

Im pretty sure that the wheel itself is 6.5 ! And as Ins just stated, the std HLX alloy is 6 ! Would this take into consideration the change from 185/55 to 195/45 ??

On my wheels it says on the outside facing (the front) part the dimensions. So you should be able to see what size it is quite easily.

However on page 320 of the Bravo manual:

5.5J (14") / 6J (14") / 6J (15") are the only wheel dimensions mentioned.

It goes onto mention that the 2.0 20v model comes with 2 varieties of tyre sizes on 6J x 15. 195/55 and 205/50.

Also in the Haynes manual (section 10.1) it says exactly the same thing with regards to 3 wheel sizes.

Hope that helps!

Also in the Bravo manual...

1.8 16v

6J x 14 185/60
6J x 15 185/55
6J x 15 195/50
