Hi does anyone know what the KO stands for next to the tyre on my 500. They tyre pressure has been checked and all correct but KO isn't even in the manual, any ideas would be appreciated it's a 500s 2015 thanks ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1457133431.617273.jpg

Hi thanks for the reply they're usually green with ok next to them, it keeps alarm sound to alert fault, guess trip to dealer

Thanks for that I reset it in the menu and on my 3 mile drive to work it was ok so see how it goes, maybe the bad weather yesterday caused a malfunction.

Out of interest does anyone know how it senses the pressure, is it built in the tyre, the valve or the dust cap and would I need to get tyres from fiat if had to replace or any tyre garage, not had these on my 500 before ?

What's the yellow "tyre" symbol on for?
Two systems are used for pressure monitoring either in built on the valve stem, which is most accurate or the use of the abs sensor system which is cheaper more reliable but less accurate

Generally they have a little device mounted behind the valve stem on the inside of the wheel. No need for special tyres or valves.

The warning don't just tell you if you have a flat tyre, usually good systems will warn you of changes in pressure as well meaning you can pull over and deal with the problem long before you've actually got a flat tyre

I thought FIAT used an iTPMS system (at least in the EU), so it will all be done in software using digital signal processing on the output from the ABS wheel sensors. No need for anything to be fitted to the wheel, tyre or valve.

Not sure to be honest, but that sounds more than likely on an little car our mini has physical sensors but also uses run flat tyres

This happened on mine a few weeks ago, all came up as KO. I couldn't find out what it meant either. Reset it and carry on that's all I did.

The monitor system on our Suzuki S-Cross uses transponders in the valves - the valve bodies are metal and held in by nuts. Don't know what system Fiat use.
Andy, I assume your Mini is quite a recent one. I had a 2004 Cooper before the 500 and that used the ABS sensors to detect differences in wheel speed. Apparently it's a legal requirement to fit a TPMS if the car is fitted with runflats.

It's a 2012 model.

I believe the current European laws mean all cars now have to have tyre pressure monitoring.
