I've been thinking about turning a Ulysse into a van

I'm wondering if the runners for side doors run inside the bodywork and take up space?

I see on Scudo vans the runners are visible on the outside does that mean Ulysse runs on the inside to look more discreet (and therefore use interior space)?

Thanks

Hey i now see the runners go under the side windows. cool.

What do people think? Could one be turned into a van without too much trouble?

Thanks :)

Hi,

the reason was the 110 engine vans tend to cost a lot more than Ulysse with similar mileage

Also by looking like a car you get lower rates on the big river crossings (severn, humber) and you get to use local recycling facilities for free / without a permit. Car get broken into less than vans.

It's also quite ncie to have electric windows and a big more comfort

But the main reason was to get a low mileage 110 HDi engine for around a grand

I've actually bought a 144k Dispatch for £1250 as in the two days i had i couldn't get an answer on the viability and insurance costs of a Ulysse

rip out the seat, paint the windows black / body colour = van add a bit of plywood for a bulk head if you want an enclosed van for added security

I was going to use our Prestigio as a works van (mainly because they don't seem to have much of a second-hand value) - attracted by the high spec and sat nav screen.

Still using the Ulysse for a family car though (as it is still running as good as the day we bought it) & bought a Citroen Dispatch in the end because of a number of factors, 3 seats in the front (handy for errands with the kids), availability of heavy duty roofrack for 2 ladders, and lastly the Ulysse isn't that great for signwriting.

Can't understand why insurance was a problem after all the cars is designed to have easily removed seats? It is a MPV afterall...

What do you mean by modified? Seats are designed to be taken out so that's not a modification. I have mine insured as a business car & most of the time I run around with just the one seat in it
Vehicle livery shouldn't really be a problem either although it might cost a little bit more.

It would have the rear side windows blacked out and plylined. It would also have a bulkhead fitted like in the vans

From an observer's point of view, ie Police, insurance etc i would expect it be described as modified

It wouldn't be irreversible but if they think i have converted it to a van it could void the insurance

I've found the biggest reason not to turn the Ullysse in to a van

They're not as tall!

It took me until last week when comparing in a car park to reaslise this..

;)
