Hi everyone

Im thinking of buying : https://www.fiatforum.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=15485&cat=20

what are peoples thoughts on this bit of kit,
Bearing in mind i will have to pay someone to fit it as well- is it worth spending that much on it? what sortas power can i expect

or will I be better off doing smaller mods for less money? (bearing in mind i'v got it lowered and an exhuast and a GSR with a P60 engine)

Cheers (y)

Looks pretty much complete. Properly set up, somewhere between 110 and 130bhp. You won't get a NA car anywhere close for £650 quid.

Caveats: that clutch is very unlikely to be up to it (you'll need a 1.4 16v clutch and flywheel -- see classifieds ;)) but you can always sell the clutch and the 1108 pistons on and you really need to upgrade the brakes, wheels and tyres. Set up is all important and it'll be more expensive than you think. My guess is 2 1/2" is too big for the exhaust (2" is probably better)........... may suffer off boost, but suck it and see.

So budget about £1000 + labour... worth doing? or better do to a coversion to MPI...

Or save my money and put in a Mckritch and a Tricker?

I regards to wheels and tyres iv got 14" running on 185/50s....

BTW i still havent fitted that upper strur brace i got off you - whats best tool to use to "felt"?

I think it's worth doing: you really can't compare the high boost tubs to NA cars, even the 1.4 16v ones -- they just have a different character. The 1.4s can be driven almost like a "normal" car (Kristian's may be the exception!) while the high boost tubs have the intensity of a Superbike. 185/50s are probably going to be a bit marginal -- 195/45 if you have 6J, in 14" or 15" (some arch work will be needed for 15".)

Don't understand the last bit!

Iv really gota weigh up if i intend on keeping the car long-term, if so i can justify spending a fair bit. i also have to weigh up insurance costs...

How much of a job is it to get all this fitted?

I regards to 15"s i cant loose these wheels- they make the car what is it and would loose its uniqueness if i change the wheels...

Oh, I am so glad you are in Bradford.

Dont worry- i might come up to pester you! (y)

I'm sad your all the way up in scotland, always a place for you here in york next to my turbo ;) lol

I really dont know much about this at all, i would would love any help! if someone wants to chuck me a quote for doing the work then fire away!:D

Fitting shouldn't be a huge issue as a DIY prospect -- I think all the details, etc. are here. J333EVO's threads on Imola Blue for a HOWTO, while alanhelen's threads give you an idea of what ownership/enslavement/addiction is like.

For insurance, the trick of playing off quotes from specialist against Cento Maniacs against FF may save you a good few quid.

It's not an addiction I can give it up whenever I want, sniff, you got 10p for a cuppa governor, sniff

If it is a second car go for it, that is a good price and gives you all the ingredients you need for a proper high boost car, if you can't do the work yourself or at mates rates forget it.

But there are a few Cento Turbo guys in Yorkshire and as Blue said we will always offer a helping hand to fellow addicts, just call us the priory

In terms of fitting- i have very basic mechanical knowledge- i can strip a car down to bits but would have no idea how to put it back together...
So i would have too get somebody to do it otherswise im just goin to mess it up,

I know ample help is on hand via the forum but even then i would only understand if i had somebody here to explain things infront of the car...
Unless I pay someone from the forum:D

It is my only car on the road- due to insurance costs (I pay 700 as it is 3rd ft) - i would prefer a punto for practicle reasons but love OWW as its so different.

I dont mind an addiction- i dont have drugs or drink so i have to **** my money on something:p (not like i have much:bang:)

you really need to look around for insurance. my car has a list of mods as long as my arm and i pay a tad over £500 (21 btw so still in the high risk band ) 3ed party fire and theft with a value of 2 grand. it is a road legal competition car insurance.

If you do everything right a turbo cinq can be very reliable. my cinq is my only car and so far has not failed which im surprised about after all the "horror stories" and considering mines is very different from everyone elses and pretty much all my own work, from all the wiring and home built and tuned ecu. to rebuilding and porting the engine. it has far more potential to fail.

yet it will do events from ragging it around a sprint coarse to chugging up a grass hill in trials. then the next day it will be used to go 2 mile down the road for milk and eggs

its copes a drive to wales with 3 mates and luggage. and still gets around 45/50mpg!!! (much better then when i had a tuned N/A)

So i say do it... and do it yourself. you will learn loads from it and help if anything ever goes wrong. (y)

yeah do it yourself, like i said, i can always lend a hand and i'm sure a few others can do as well. Iknew naff all about turbo engines when i bought my first one, this is gonna the best way for you to learn how it works which will be invaluable knowledge when it comes to driving them alot ;)
