whats best to buy for a 1.4 for about £2-300 in terms of tuning, e.g. exhaust, manifold, i dont know, whatever? i fancy buying something between that region (that wont make the car any less reliable though).

I know 1.4s are **** for tuning, but any help will do.

well nige was gonna buy some software to tune them up. That would have added like 9 - 10 bhp. You can still get it done at some garages but it sets you back bout 400. I think its the best tuning option as the 1.4 really doesnt have enough power to utilise by adding air filters and exhausts. they all just add sound! Ive got a 1.4 and the only thing i do to improve performance is add optimax! I thinks it does make a diff!

where abouts can u get the remap done? near sunderland/newcastle area? cheers

I also have 1.4s, the one to avoid if wise at time of purchase! Optimax definitely makes a difference, i can tesify to that, give slightly more torque low down where it lacks originally.

Haven't got round to an induction kit or replacement filter yet so cant vouch for them.

have done the exhaust route though. replaced the backbox with a remus twin pipe two years ago. Added some sound and slightly more torque again, mostly low down and slightly more free at high speeds as well. This box replace the original backbox only though, not the whole section. This whole section went next and i wanted to keep the remus box so had a powerflow custom centre section fabricated. Added 100% more noise when acceleration low down and slightly more torque again. Not Neck Snapping but certainely noticeable.

I actually live in North Shields but have no idea where you can get this done?
Try a fresh post with a catchy title to see if anyone knows of places that do it round here
