hey guys
im a real newb to the fiat scene (i deal with mustangs a lot-but naturally aspirated motors) so i might be a little behind on turbos on these cars

this question was definitely answered already but i just cant seem to find an answer

my pops just got an 01 marea weekend 1.9 jtd and i was wondering how i can go about getting a little more power out of it?
-ill make a cold air intake and maybe fabricate an exhaust down the line but my main concern is a plug-n-play chip that i can purchase online.

I'd like to raise the boost and get a little more out of it...what specific chips would do that for me SAFELY? and how much power would i be looking at? (how much hp are they factory?)

thanks !!! (y)

Hi welcome

I have the same motor and the only plug and play I know anything about was bought at a firm called DTUK it worked well enough but what bhp I was getting is only guesswork. I have since had a remap at Red Dot and the extra power makes the plug and play feel like a waste of time the only good thing about it is unplug and use on the next car or sell it. Anyone selling them will tell you which one and how much power its just a lucky dip really who you believe but at the end of the day a remap is best in my opinion. Happy hunting.

power from a remap depends on the version of the JTD you have. phase 1 JTD (105bhp) has no boost pressure control from ECU, whereas the phase 2 has and can get more power without modifications. In either case the biggest limitation is the clutch and dual mass flywheel, as 130 bhp seems to be the normal limit without changing it.. also there is already a cold air feed from under the bonnet lip to the filter box.

I maybe should have mentioned mine is or was the 110bhp(phase 2) and is now 171bhp with no affect on mpg under normal driving. The flywheel it has is the only one available nobody as far as I know makes a solid one Valeo certainly dosent and they dont intend making one. As far as the cold air feed from under the bonnet is concerned or rather the lack of it because the 110bhp gets its cold air from on top of the nearside inner wing.
