my headunit seems to have died[V]

for the past week or so when i turn the ignition on the stereo would come on and other times it wouldnt, so in the mornings when it didnt come on i would switch the engine off and then turn it back on again until the stereo came on again - the unit is pioneer but not sure exact model - at first i thought it could be a fuse but i dont think it is otherwise it wouldnt keep coming back on now and again.

anyway fianlly its decieded it doesnt want to come back on again now - i had to drive from rochdale to swindon and back again without any music;)

if anyone has any ideas i would be really grateful:)

It might sound simple, but make sure the power lead into the back of the headunit is all the way in. If its not fully in, or its in at an angle i.e. part of the trim/dash is slightly in the way, then it might be that.

Otherwise my advise would be to get an auto electrician to have a look at the head unit for you.

give it a slight slap...dont look at me stupid:p, it mite be what chris suggested above

my h/u has gone funny now, it is because the face connectors need cleaning, i suppose u could also check that, if its a face off

Yeah, its likely to be something simple, and Fiat electrical systems are feckin shocking, so it could be almost anything, I suggest you dissconect the headunit power and just wire it straight up to a power source (PSU, battery, something else in the car that you know is working (ciggy lighter is a good one)) and see if it works then. If it does work, then you know it isnt the head unit thats at fault.

I've had a few problems with mine, such as the headunit turning off then straight back on again when I indicate left. Bloody annoying

Have a play, at any rate.

Cheers

am gunna take it to carcraft audio centre today - i am quite sure it is something to do with the wiring - i just remebered before it started decideding whether it would come on or not when i stated the the car, the previous week the buttons stopped working for volume and stuff but when i turn off the ignition and started it again it worked - will see what carcraft say today about it!
