Evening all, not long had my grande 1.9 sporting and was wondering if anyone has put one on a track day and how well it coped?

On my 4th Punto and this is my 3rd gp! Love em
Cheers

Nice! Where you doing it? I done a Ferrari experience at Silverstone a few years back, later that year I took my old focus st170 on a track day up there! Such a good day, can't wait to go again!

My friend took his around Spa last year, seemed to be ok even though the clutch and DMF was on its way out.

Personally I wouldn't go and thrash my own personal car round a track

Why? Half the fun is to learn its limits :)

Because for the sake of an afternoons entertainment you wil take a chunk out of the life of the clutch, tyres, brakes etc. And then you might crash it. There is a reason why all the cars on these supercar days are not the latest model and are a bit ropey.

Plus, in my experience most road cars feel terrible on a track. Even a fast road car suddenly feels dog slow, the brakes feel nowhere near good enough and body roll that was absent on the road becomes tragically bad.

Very tight twisty tracks are a bit kinder to road cars than fast wide ones but either way a road car is going to be a let down.

Elvington then

Ensure your adequately insured.. Normal car insurance won't cover you

Check what you need some might want a fire extinguisher in the car for example

Ensure car is well serviced and tyre pressures are right

After your run leave the car ticking over a while to allow coolant and oil to continue to circulate and cool and keep turbo lubed And don't apply the handbrake till brakes are cool...

Oh and watch the cones they are mirror high

Hell yeah!:D Will have some stuff added to it before though Lol! doing the brakes, suspension and going to map it! Looking at Silverstone in September then off to the nordschleife next year :)

Silverstone! Fast and wide, not ideal for a diesel hatch.

Done the Ferrari experience at Silverstone (360 Modena & Exige) Honestly preferred the manual of the Exige. Great day, highly recommend.

23rd June got Oulton Park booked. Racemaster, an M3 & the single seater. Cant wait

But my T-Jet on a track day? Nah rather a purpose built track day car. Older HGT, stripped, LSD, semi-slicks with negative camber on the front. Ideally get a FR car but lets be honest, it has to be Italian.

Dont get me wrong I love my T-Jet but its more suited to narrow twisting country rounds than a wide & fast circuit. IMO

Single seater sounds fun! What is it, a formula Ford? Other than a formula student (which doesn't really count) I've not driven a single seater.
