Toyota Recall...

What is there to discuss, oh look Toyota are rectifying a issue they are aware off, let slag them off, after all its the honourable thing, could always try and ignore it like most of GM with their EPS system failures.

Toyota have had a recall, just like most manufactures have yearly....point being what?

People trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill again!

I say good on them. None of them are what I'd call 'dangerous' yet they make it fully public when they have them and do pro-active recalls to put he faults right.

Fiat, GM and others sweep it under the rug and try and do the work as part of your 'dealer servicing'. The customer service you get from Fiat and most of their dealers is shocking. The only good dealer I came across was Reg Vardy Fiat in Croft Road Darlington but it went out of business / got bought out :(.

I'm going to stick my head above the parapet here

I had a Toyota that was subject to a recall due to steering.

I was driving a Japanese grey market import, and the recall was based in Japan, however Toyota made that recall available to all grey market vehicles.

Owners had replacement vehicles supplied whilst the work was carried out, some had champagne and free fuel provided, most had free valets (in my case much to the digust of the cleaner, I'd been playing on Salisbury Plain not long before, playing spot the car's colour was agood game :) )

I cannot fault them, and bearing in mind the grief they had over not issuing recalls it has to be said that they have done the right thing.

I remember my friend had an aygo, brakes failed and he ended up wedged into a tree. Toyota washed their hands of it...

So looks like even Toyota some times try to sweep it under the rug.

How did they fail out of interest? No known brake issues with the Aygo, only accelerator pedal issues, and this was only on the automatic versions with Toyota MMT transmission (equivalent of Fiat Dualogic box).

Think it means the crank shaft aux pully John cant see where they got gear box from unless its driven off the gear box input shaft

it mentions loss of cooling ability as well so i Assume (probably wrongly  ) that the Crank shaft drives the water pump / Power steering pump / Alternator which is splined and it strips leaving a slipping pully which will do so much for a while till it self bores itself out then gets rather loose

Toyota has said it will recall 2.7 million cars worldwide because of problems with the steering wheel and water pump system.Toyota has said it will recall 2.7 million cars worldwide because of problems with the steering wheel and water pump system.
