General Towing query.

I'm thinking of buying a 2 berth caravan off Fleabay. Can anyone please tell me what I can tow (weight wise). My Scudo is a 2001 1.9EL. Thanks in advance.

Your Scudo is capable of carrying a 900kg payload which is the guts of a ton. Your caravan is way lighter than that & as it's being towed, it won't have that much strain on the engine anyway. Just make sure you're easy on the clutch & have decent brakes on the caravan.

We didn't get a manual when we bought it... I have searched online but have found conflicting information!

Look at the plate on your vehicle and this will explain what's what on it, D,E,F & G are what your interested in:

If your still not sure, take the vehicle down to your local Fiat Dealership and ask them to explain what the plate means etc and your towing weight. Shouldn't cost you a penny.

I think F & G only really come into play if you have the Scudo fully loaded also (don't quote me on that as I don't do towing).

Best bet is buy the owners manual linked on eBay which will break everything down for you and save some headaches in the future if needed. The owners manual will have something like the below in it which explains everything:
