No.

Go to the top of the forum page and look for the links that Roberto has added and get yourself some security updates and a decent spyware removal program just incase.

has anyone had the annoying "your copy of windows may not be legal...." one from microsoft.

It's great because it checks with microsoft every time you turn the pc on, every time you logon and upto 4 times a day. If your PC is not connected to the net then your legal copy decides it is not legal as it cannot contact microsoft.

Wheres that linux disk?

lol, roll on linux! i dled two anti warez programs from the top, very helpful in the most part however i have now got some cunning spyware which every time you try find it in the registry changes it name....damnit. last check it was "cow pummeler" i mean wtf!?

cynic-al i had this, but after "activating" over the phone (as the internet thing didnt work) it went away. still annoying as they kind of dont believe you have a legal copy as it didnt work online...15mins on the phone too and thats 0845 i think it was!

You can get rid of that Genuine Crap.. Here's how to do it:

- Restart in Safe Mode.
- Browse to C:\Windows\System32 - Delete "WgaTray.exe"
- Open up regedit (start>run>regedit). Browse to path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > Windows NT > Current Version > Winlogon > Notify. You'll now see a folder called "WgaLogon". - Delete the whole folder and all the content and subdirectories in the registry under that folder.

Reboot.

Bob's your uncle.

Forgot to add.

Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Windows Genuine Advantage\data and there's a file called data.dat

You WILL need to enable hidden files/folders to see the file.

Delete the file.

Right click, Create new text document. Rename, to data.dat (Say Yes to change file extension name - obviously) You will need to view file extensions to do this.

Now you'll have an empty data.dat file.

Right click, properties, and put two checkmarks in the Hidden and Read-Only boxes.

That's all.

Yes service pack 2 does this, But i am assuming that service pack 2 is not installed. If service pack 2 is installed then you should not be getting this
