300nm thats very very tight.....
i think the highest is needed is for the Hub nuts on the rear stubs @ 280nm

Halfords is 85£
If you have trade - i would have thought it'd be around the £60ish mark

Rear hubs you dont reuse the nut - well Autodata says you dont have to, so you can punch 2 markers on the bolt alignment and count the turns off and stopping point
And to refit repeat :)

Will look into the halfords trade card thanks, it's for fitting a new gear box

Problem is that torque wrenches with huge ranges are hugely expensive and hugely unwieldy -- they also tend to be woefully inaccurate at the lower end, which is where you really need accuracy.

You won't need them for gearboxes or hub nuts -- as Ziggy says, ratchet tight for the box, breaker bar and scaffold tube for the hub nuts.

if the man wants a torque wrench then let the man buy a torque wrench !

if you want one up to 300nm don't be tempted to tray and get something that covers a wide range, get yourself a high torque and a second lower torque wrench then you'll keep the accuracy

places like cash convertors can be very good for this sort of thing once saw a quite expensive TW (not snap on but that sort of ilk) a few years back in a nice blow moulded case which would do 320nm i seem to think and it was £40
