Hello,

i own a Grande Punto 2009 with ESP and it seems that i have a problem with the steering torque sensor.
I randomly get the following faults: C1002+C0051 and the red steering wheel indicator comes up on the dashboard. When i turn the steering wheel slightly to the left or to the right that indicator disappears. The steering wheel works just fine.
So i ordered a blue torque sensor 7cables/8pins (i hope it` s right) but unfortunately i don` t have the proper steering sensor tester in order to calibrate the torque sensor.

What i would like to ask is, if it is possible to calibrate the new sensor and set it to position zero using the multiecuscan.
One more question: If the torque sensor will not be calibrated, is it possible to drive the car? I mean, what problems could be caused by a non calibrated torque sensor?

Thank you! :)

I don't know if you can calibrate it with MES some say you can but I've never done it. Some say you can auto-calibrate it by turning steering with a combination of full locks right/left and that's it.

What I know is that if you don't, steering will pull to one side always and centered may not be stable. (It's not very safe also)
