I had this problem with the engine idling unevenly and would like to share the quick and easy fix I stumbled upon.
On my Bravo 1.4 16V, the engine would idle unevenly. The car was normally driveable but this would cause the A/C compressor to disengage always while car idling (e.g. stopping at a traffic light).
After servicing the A/C with 2 garages and considering changing all sorts of engine stuff (e.g. air intake sensors), I decided to clean the throttle body using carb cleaner spray. After I cleaned the throttle body, idle improved dramatically and A/C started to work normally at engine idle.
I clean the throttle body every 2 years now and this is enough to maintain normal idling and A/C operation in idle.
