anyone out there know how to disable/remove the standard alarm on my 1995 1.4ies tipo? it is driving me mad, it goes on and off waking the neighbours etc every time the battery gets low. i just want to disconnect the thing but i cant even find it! also car failed the mot last week as rear subframe rotten, where tops of coil springs mount (on a supposedly galvanised car!) is it a big job to replace DIY?

You could just disconnect the siren under the bonnet for the alarm.

I think at the back of the engine bay nearer to the right are a bunch of wires that are for the alarm system. disconnect all of them.

As for your subframe It doesn't sound healthy. The galvanised bits are only the body panels and outer bits, not the rest I don't think. sucks don't it :(

Its not that difficult a job(a good bit of work though) to change the subframe the problem is finding one worth putting in.

you will need to remove the exhaust and the petrol tank.
Dissconect the handbreak cables and the break pipes
Open the mounting bolts (which are probably seized) and the whole subframe will fall on top of you and/or anyone or anything else underneath it
