Hi Everybody ,

Newbie here on the Fiat forums , so please be gentle :D

My wife has got a 1993 tipo 1.4 ie , looks like a wreck but goes really well .
However , recently it has developed a flat spot around 3000 rpm , which seems to be getting worse and is now "hesitating" on the flat .

I have changed the distributor cap , fitted new plugs and leads , checked all the connectors for corrosion etc but still the same problem.

I was going to overhaul the carburettor , but have just discovered it has a bosch mono jetronic injection system instead ( well , it looked like a carb:confused:)

The manual I have got only covers the tipo models with a carburettor- and I can't find any information about the 1.4 ie .

Does anybody know if a manual for this car is available ? It seems to differ in many ways to the standard 1.4 tipo . In fact , there is a box thing mounted in front of the offside front wheel with a blue pipe going to it which I have no idea what it is - the pipe goes back to the fuel tank so I am guessing it is a breather of some kind ????????

If anybody can help with info about a manual - or what on earth the box is- please let me know .

Many thanks:)

Thanks for the reply.

Yes , the air filter has been replaced but I only found the fuel filter yesterday under a plastic plate by the offside rear wheel so that will be replaced next.

hyping an old thread.got the same symptoms as thread writer. any more hints? my tipo is really annoying in about 30/40 km/h like a kangaroo:confused:

You can also check the black rubber pipe between the inlet manifold and Digiplex. When it leaks, the advance and mixture go wrong, which is noticeable especially when driving with low rpm (e.g. 40 - 50 km/h with 5th gear engaged).
