Re: Tiny Tots 500 broken door handle

Thank you bit Daunting having a go as never done any work in any cars. But will try another dealership and then go on from there

Doh how stupid of me its an 2011 car 2008 was old one sorry.(its my age) Yes paid £25 for third year warranty so its covered till October

Thanks for clearing that one up.

Perhaps one of the most frustrating aspects of the FIAT dealer experience is that it seems there is no consistency in how the terms of the warranty are interpreted. Some folks have had failures due to the common design faults (handles, door mirrors, boot wiring etc) fixed free without question, some have initially been refused but got there after a fight, and others have been completely stonewalled and ended up getting their cars repaired out of their own resources. Also the interpretation of what is and is not covered in the third year seems to vary from case to case.

One of the many good things about this forum is that we can all share our experiences, good, bad or indifferent. I'm sure many folks have been encouraged to persist with warranty claims after reading posts from others who've been successful in getting the same fault fixed free.

Re: Tiny Tots 500 broken door handle

Thank you I will persevere and keep updated

Well here's the update. Took my 500pop to another fiat dealer and they did my handle under warranty in 20 mins it's standard they said. When asked warranty people apparently they've already had claim and I've had it done!!!!!! I don't think the first garage have been very truthful with me it seems the warranty chap only come for claims over£700

Tiny Tots, I'm very pleased you got it sorted and chose to go to another dealership.

That being said, something stinks about what you have apparently gone through with the initial dealer and trust me, if you were me, I'd be giving Fiat Customer Services a call telling them your story and asking them to investigate.

From this particular experience, I would be giving the initial dealer you went to a very, very wide berth in the future. You could of course go and see them and ask to speak to the dealership manager and ask him or her to explain what their issue is but to be honest I'd be surprised if you got anywhere.

Oh believe me letters are being sent absolutely raging about this. Wondering what else has been claimed on my car without me knowing. Now know why I got curtesy car for two days. I will write to Fiat warranty and Fiat themselves. I nearly cried when they said they could put new handle on and that it was only going to take 20 mins at most.thank you to the forum for giving me advice and the courage to do something about this. Three trips to one garage for nothing had shocked me when one quick visit sorted it so angry at moment so writing it but will re read when calmer before sending letters thank you everyone again TT

Re: Tiny Tots 500 broken door handle

Interesting, sounds like the first dealer was getting repairs done on other cars using your registration/VIN details -very creative and very wrong .

Re: Tiny Tots 500 broken door handle

Well Fiat called today and says wasn't the dealer at fault was warranty who had put my mileage down wrong what difference this makes I have no idea but that is the answer and that is why warranty refused to agree to repair. I am calling back because I'm at a loss as to why the inspector didn't notice the glitch in the paperwork when he inspected my car, something I didn't ask today but want to know. I still feel that something is not right but I have a new handle and didn't have to pay because I did my homework. Makes me wonder how many would have just paid TT
