General timing marks???? !!~~help~~!!

can any one help with the correct positioning of the timing marks on a fiat marea 16v ??? any help will b greatly use full.
if any one can take or send me the corect diagram plz x

welcome to the nightmare that is fiat timing. i've never seen a single mark on both my 1.6 and 1.8. i usually get a tipex pen and a ruler, then mark a long line across both camshaft pulleys. do another line on the crankshaft pulley and some of the block behind it. then you can use your own marks. if the belt has snapped or you've already taken it off then you need to get TDC on piston 1 and then set thecamshafts before fitting the head to the block. there are camshaft locking tools that allow you to lock both shafts in the correct place prior to fitting the head.

hi parky just done mine today bought cam blocks from local car shop £28.00 tensioner and idler £43.00 belt £14.00 put cam blocks on set crank to tdc marks on the belt lined up with marks on the 3 pullys not a problem hope yours is the same

i am after a diagnostic code reader for a x reg fiat marea 1.8 dohc can anyone help me and tell me the location of the diagnostic socket on the same car ([email protected])

diag socket for main ecu is on front of engine bay fusebox cover (back right when looking in bay). there is a seperate plug under the glovebox for the aurbag module, and another in the engine bay for the ABS module.

you can use a standard serial to OBD or USB to obd cable with a laptop.

to connect an OBD connector to the fiat 3 pin connector you need a few lengths of wire.
on the 16 pin obd2 connector use the following pins
4- chassis ground (connect to ground on 3 pin connector)
5- signal ground (connect to black wire pin on 3 pin connector)
7- k line (connect to white wire pin on 3 pin connector)
16- 12vDC (connect to battery positive terminal)


for software, uniscan works and can be downloaded for free if you search a few torrent sites.
