what is the average garage price for this job.only a garage nearby me when asked how much it would cost came back saying it needs a special tool for the pully or something and it's out of his league leaving me thinking is it a special dealer job here in s.wales...

I paid £222 for the timing belt on my marea 105jtd. £132 for the kit and £90 labour. I don't think the garage that I used had any special equipment

Hello , if you tab back through the forum a few months ago someone posted when they had their timing belt done for around the 300-400 mark including all assoc bits n bobs.

well i did a bit of detective work today i noticed on the service book the dealers tel no and name so i gave them a bell gave them the car reg and asked them if they had done the timing belt recently well it was changed in 2006 and they recon it is ok for another 2 yrs i also found out from them that they supplied my marea from new to a middle aged woman who had all her work done there by them so it seems my car has had a well looked after life..so i'm well chuffed...

lots havent been ok though

gates make excelent belts

who makes fiats belts beau?

true, but iv never seen a belt fail under 6-7 years personally.

and not what rog at power italia says, he says they are cheap belts and steers clear, his had several failures with gates, changed to fiat belts and not had a failure yet.

i duno, but fiat belts are better than belts sold by motor factors, may be same make, but fiat stamped ones are better quality.

hi lads well i asked the service dept at lc motors newport about the length of time between belt changes and he assured me you /i need not replace the belts is seven yrs and that only genuin fiat parts were/are used.oh he told me as well that back in 2006 the belt change and a service was priced at 350 quid..
