If anyone can help i would be really grateful..i've been having problems with my Fiat Uno ever since i took it over, mainly the engine cutting out when at a standstill with problems restarting it, and recently the engine cutting out whilst driving and ??"tick over" running far too fast....I dont know anything when it comes to cars, and i don't know what this stuff here means other than the year '93...but its a 1.1 i.e s 50, 1108 cc....
Currently desperately looking for someone who could help identify whats wrong with it, or someone who could help locate a distributor for this specific car type.
I can give more details if needed, or find answers to questions that need addressing for more information to help...

If this part cant be sourced or it isn't this that is causing the problem then i will be looking to depart with this car i have become very fond of, due to financial reasons :(
So any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Relax, its probably just a sensor or something small, I only have experience with the carburettor Uno's though. But I assure you there is nothing thats terribly hard or expensive to fix on a FIRE engine.

Just be patient, the UK guys will pitch in just now.

On a carburettor unit I would have said check vacuum advance by disconnecting tube on carb side and sucking, makeing sure the diapgragm can hold some pressure and doesn't have holes in, then check for vacuum leaks around intake manifold gaskets by spraying carb cleaner with motor running, listening for rev changes.... (you can actualy do this one).

They would then check the carb gaskets the same way.

And finaly replace ignition module on distributor... Those things can die if you look at them skew some times, and have similar behaviour to your symptoms (actualy lots of things have, its a matter of elimination is the most cost efficient order).

Hi there

Doe that happen with the engine cold or hot? I also hint at the electronic module located in the distributor. It's not expensive :)
Hyperspace - he has electronic injection but still your vacuum testing is a good idea.

Let us know how you get on and good luck :)
