Why do I hear a ticking noise from the engine. I hear it the most from the back side of the air filter!
Any ideas why and how to get rid of it this ticking noise? Its like a sewing machine, literally!

when did you last do an oil change? and what oil did you use?? if you used the wrong grade this can cause this a good engine flush followed by some quality oil can help

or the Tappits need reseting either a garage job or a haynes manual and a feeler gage

I used the Selenia Gold 10W-40. I just gave it a service lately and the Oil is a bit brownish. But not a black texture. Is it difficult to clean the tappets? Does the rocker head cover have to be opened to do this cleaning?

Thanks.

The alternative source for the noise is the tappets (yes, on 1108!). Assuming SPI, get a long screwdriver, stick your ear on the blunt end, put the pointy end on the throttle body, then on the cam cover.

If the noise seems to be coming from the TB it's the injector, if from the cam cover, the valve clearances need adjusting.

Ok fingers. Thanks for the help. I will tell my mechanic about this process which he has to do for me.

Thanks once again.;)

go to tesco or any car petrol station or parkers or somthing its a liquid that goes into your fuel you pour the specified ammount in it tells u to then it just cleans the fuel system slowly

Ok. Will do too. At least it cleans the combustion area of the engine too. Thanks for the tip!
