Ticking noise on start up!!!

I have a Bravo 1.4sx & it has started to make a ticking noise on startup which gradually fades after
2-3 seconds. I have been advised that it could poss be the tappets which are a real common problem on fiats.
I do love my car but tappets going at 45k?

Is this a costly job to fix & has anyone else had the same problem?

any help is greatly appreciated.

All 1.4s i've heard start up tick for about 2-3 seconds. Even new ones. Mine used to and there was no problem with that. Anyone else?

i have read a few posts on here about 1.4 problems with the cambelt tensioner (which idiot at fiat decided to make it out of PLASTIC!). you should have had the belt and tensioner changed every 45k miles so check it out because it is cheaper than a new engine. i have the 1.8 and it makes an odd rattle when idling which could be the cambelt so i am having it checked out very soon!
