Hi all,

My car has recently started to idle quite roughly, and the fuel consumption has increased noticeably. The coils and spark plugs were replaced a few months ago (9,000 km). I'd like to clean the throttle body before looking into any other causes, but I can't seem to find a part number for the gasket sealing it to the intake manifold.

Year: 2008
Engine 1.4 16v 100hp
Engine code: 169a3000

Does anybody have a clue?

Thanks!

Is that mileage for real ?!?! o_O

Has it ever had a new lambda sensor ? (that will help with mpg)

For your gasket part number stick your VIN into the search (it'll limit part number display to your particular car) and then navigate to:

Yes, the lambda was replaced in January 2025. I still can't seem to find the correct part number, only for the 1.3 diesel.

Are there any other things you'd check if cleaning the throttle body doesn't work?

The mileage is real. However, I'm in the Netherlands, so it is in KM. Converted, it's on roughly 168,000 miles.

You did put your VIN into the ePER system ?
This should remove all the options and just leave you with your specific car parts

Would this fit the 1.4 16V as well? Ford part# seems to point to a 1.2

That is what I was wondering as well, I can't seem to find any results when using ePER with the VIN. It won't even show me a drawing featuring the throttle body. If the seal is reusable I reckon I'll just give it a go. Worst case I'll take my '71 500 to work tomorrow and sort it over the weekend :)

Just cleaned the throttle body, everything went fairly easily. The Seal is definitely reusable. The throttlebody and seal seem to be the same as on the MultiAir engines, part number on the seal for the MultiAir is 77364551

(kit for the entire intake manifold, also includes 4 seals for the connection from the intake to the engine)

The idle is back to normal, throttle response, power, and fuel consumption have improved drastically. The last 2km to my house is a slow, windy road through a residential area, speeds between 20 and 30km/h (12-20 mp/h), so throttle inputs would not exceed 20%.

Before cleaning, I averaged 12km/l (28 mpg) - After cleaning, I just averaged 16km/l (38 mpg!!)

Save to say it was worth the €10,- cleaner and spending 30 minutes. Thanks to everyone for the help!
