General Throttle potentiometer

Hi folks
I've just had to replace my throttle potentiometer on a 2.0ltr 8v after it 'failed' costing £80 part only. Apart from the ripoff price, it failed again about 150 miles later, my FIAT garage says the new one was not fitted correctly which they corrected and then reset the fault code, another £85.
Firstly it is probably impossible to fit it wrong and secondly has this happened to anyone else? or are they charging me just to reset the ECU.

And the guarantee on spare parts???Here the authorized garages have to apply it for 3 months...btw, it's hard to believe in a fitting "error"!
