there is no throttle position sensor on a JTD, its a drive by wire system with an accellerator position pot at the pedal itself. Its quite difficult to get at, expensive (new) and unlikely to be faulty unless a diagnostic specifically shows it to be..

I had a diagnostic done by Fiat/Ancaster and the computerised prinout says "Traced to a throttle position sensor, requires new sensor and recheck"
The symptoms are that I lose acceleration for no apparent reason and the Engine Management Light comes on.
The MAF passes as ok, had cleaned it beforehand, and I have changed the fuel filter. I've also used Forte (genuine from the garage) in the fuel.
I'm assuming this is the same thing, and does anyone know how to go about taking the existing one out. I've found a place that can do a secondhand one, which will be enough to get it on the road and ready for a part-ex
I would get the actual fault code that came up off them, as the description is a bit misleading (sensor ??) , but the symptoms you describe could point to the pedal as it will go straight to limp mode if it detects any discrepancy between the 3 pots for obvious safety reasons. did they check the wiring and connectors at the pedal and ECU as well ?. I say difficult to remove because you have to be upside down under the dash to get at it
Yes that makes sense alright. I would not replace it without checking the wiring and connectors and voltage/resistance checks of the pots themselves, but if you can easily get a spare, by all means try it. unfortunately no-one will have done a guide on this because its quite unlikely many people have ever had to do it. The pedal unit should just unbolt from the bulkhead I think..
Thanks. I've found 2 suppliers but both want the part number nefore they will send it out..which means I have to find out how to remove my one to get it first.....and that's got me stumped as I cant find out how to do that.
you can get a diagram and the part number from eper.fiatforum.com
i just tried to get it for you but its saying "too many concurrent connections" which means too many people are using it at present.
