My car is very unpredictable when it comes to accelerating. I can have my foot flat on the floor and I will be barely moving and then the next minute I'll be doing 100 miles an hour!!! It is getting so bad that I'm trying not to drive it.

To fix this I need a new potentiometer for my Y reg Fiat Bravo 105 JTD. I have been told that a new one will cost me £200 + and then labour on top. I don't really want to spend that amount of money as the car has other problems with it (apparently the turbo isn't working either).

I have had a look on the internet but I have no idea what type of potentiometer will fit in a Bravo.

Does anyone have any ideas of what type I need and where I can get one from? I live in Reading, Berkshire.

a throttle position sensor will cost you £10 from a scrapyard. there are plenty of 1.9JTD fiats that you can take one from. as its a diesel the sensor in on the accelerator pedal mechanism. you can simply replace it yourself.

are you sure your problem isnt a sticking EGR valve? try cleaning it.

Thanks for replying.

As I know very little about cars where would I find the EGR valve?
