General Thinking about new wheels for the sisley.

Guys im considering some 14 inch steel wheels for my sisley. Tell me what are the issues with 14's? do they catch the rear pipe to the fuel tank. I do want to fit some offroad tyres . Has anyone done this?

If this is not possible what fiat 13 inch steels could i use and paint white for my car? Really want to keep the original sisley cap in the centre of the new steel wheel.

Keep the 13" ones and paint them (Cream is standard)..pick a colour to suit and have you seen those truly amazing 4x4 tyres posted on here??...yep be careful of that fuel pipe!!

Going to have my 13 inch sisley wheels done anyway, but just fancy a newer wheel. Really tough as i dont want to loose the original simple rugged 4x4 image the original steel gives .

Guys what wheel is this in the pic?

If it is the standard 4x4 wheel i beleive they are Wellers.

14's are almost certainly gonna rub.

if you want something different seicento 13" steelies look good in white, they have a sort of tear drop shape whole instead of a normal boring round one. they might be 5j comapred to a 4x4's stock 4j width, correct me if i'm wrong anyone?

Ok guys point taken on the 14's!! sticking with 13's. Got a nice email back from compomotive wheels they do a nice copy of the old oz rally wheel called the TH. Looks a bit 4x4, but lacks a bit of rugged character for the 4x4. To be honest very similar to the original uno turbo wheel but in white. And a fair amount of cash.

Can the pirelli winter 160 stretch over a 5.5 width 13 inch rim? or would this look silly?

I do they are awesome, just that my car has brand new pirelli winter 160's on her!! so does not make sense buying new tyres at the moment.

They sure look awesome on Allen's treking though!! Mind you i have the original front sisley mudflaps to put on my car? and i couldnt do it with those tyres?

Going to start stripping the paint on my wheels today. Wish me luck.

Get them remould tyres bought I spent best part of last year trying to find a good block tread tyre Colway went bust super company to deal with, Kingpin remouds not intrested in 145's these tyers I put on the forum are super and look the part and are imported from Italy and the supplier is super to deal with and delivery was the next day

Top man they are the best I have ever found so far I bought 16 new winter rated tyres in Germany because I'd given up hope of getting some tyres like these and at this size:worship: Finishing mine off with some 27mm long chrome valve covers and dust caps

Just need a nice set of fiat steelies to go with them!!! Does it give our 4x4's a bit extra height?

I say pick up a cheapish set of steelie's, get them sandblasted and either powdercoated or painted.

Preferably all in the same day too, or over couple of days. They will last forever after that

A couple of things to mention though, as I am currently changing wheels and finding these things out,

Offset - Most wheels over 35mm offset will make your steering lose the ability to 'self centre.' Not the biggest problem in the world but can be a bit confusing and annoying after a while. Not to mention the fact they will get close to, if not catch the inner arch.

Rim width & tyre size - if you get to the heady heights of 185mm you'll find that some minor adjustment with a mallet is required to stop them hitting the inner arch. Especially at the rear.

And also you'll be fighting the contours of the road too if you get wide tyres.

I think the original wheels, sandblasted and painted in white or something would look spot on.

Yes spent the day working and paint stripping my first sisley wheel, got down to the first coat which is cream not white!!! then down to the polished metal.Guys any pictures of the original sisley cream wheel?

need to get as close a colour cream to the original.

Put the first coat of rust protection primer on tonight, gone on great!! By hell that first wheel was hard work!!:bang:

ahh nothing like a bit of elbow grease

The first set of wheels I 'did up' was on my VW beetle. I must have spent a day on each one sanding back all the rust and getting it prepped for a bit of home spray painting.

They looked awesome though -and you gotta do it the hard way a few times to appreciate using a sandblasters.

Yeah tell me about it lol. Its a ritual i do with all my panda 4x4's! but this sisleys wheels have had more bad resprays than arthur daleys jag!! How many layers of paint??

Anyhow it was worth it, wheel number one looks great smooth surface and will have a rust protection layer as a first coat.

Deep breath here goes wheel number 2........

still cant decide on original cream or white!!
