Technical Thermostat

Hi folks. At my wits end so need some advice.
I have a 2016 fiat ducato A Class motorhome with a 2.2 diesel engine. The thermostat appears to be stuck open. The temperature guage rises to half way but there is no heat from the vents. The guage then rises and falls as you drive along but no heat. I believed the thermostat was at the right hand side of the engine at the end of the bottom hose. I have stripped the airbox out and some air hoses but for the life of me cant see anything resembling a thermostat housing. I have included a couple of pics.

Can you see anything like this thermstat used on some 2.2 Ducato?
Plus is water level good/correct as if losing water or air getting into system will make gauge fluctuate.

There's nothing like this at all. Thats the shape I was looking for but there's nothing obvious.
There are 2 small pipes that seem to have been linked by a t.piece. im thinking someone has done away with the thermostat all together. Ill try and take a photo tomorrow when I get some light.

Yes I would expect it to be on engine with large top or bottom hose at one end.
They used that engine in other manufacturers vehicles of similar age so may search other sites.

The thermostat should sit on the cylinder head. Might very much be as you said, someone has done away with the thermostat all together there.

That's for the earlier ford 2.2 engine.

I thought the Sofim engine was 2.3, but I don't claim to be any kind of expert on them

Just to make it fun its also a seval mash up. Its def not the ford 2.2

Op could post reg number which may help

Folks. Another day of frustration. I cannot find anything that remotely resembles a thermostat housing. These are the plates from the engine.

Often refered to as iveco engine on forum
Correct engine id will help a lot.

I suggest You can get a decent brand cheaper than that

I also suggest bleeding air from heater circuit before changing thermostat

Can You guide the op to find the feed and return hoses going through bulk head to heater? Please.

My books only go up to 2012, but definately a Sofim engine as used with slight differences in Iveco, Fiat, Citroen,Peugeot,etc.
Sorry no further information apart from usual follow the pair of hoses through bulkhead, any with aircon will have metal pipes and fittings with valves so easily seperated.
Re the thermostat it's self again where the two main hoses from the radiator, "top and bottom" large bore pipes go to the engine, that thermostat woth bolted flange fitting you identified should be soon recognisable.

Folks. I have stripped out the air filter hosuing and the hoses to the heating on the passenger side of the engine. I can find and trace the bottom hose which goes along the front of the engine and it joins another hose. There is nothing bolted to the engine on the passenger side of the engine to suggest a thermostat or a housing. The timing cover is on the driver's side and I haven't removed that........would the thermostat be on the drivers (left) side of the engine? Im still thinking it has been removed altogether.

Look at 5:50 in this video. The van is older than yours but the position is the same in my 2020.
