Thermostat

Hi All,

Ordered a replacement thermostat for a 1.6 a while back from shop4parts, however came to fitting the unit this weekend and came across a small problem.....

The unit is virtually identical to the old one, bar the fact it has an extra hole next to where you would screw the sensor in to, this hole fits the sensor (or at least has the same thread) whereas the one that corresponds with the hole for the sensor on the old thermostat is too big.

I don't have the Bravo parts/servicing CD but I do have the Stilo one, this thermostat looks just like the one show on the Stilo CD......

Is this just simply the wrong part or has there been some change in the design of the thermostat?

Mk1 had 2 sensors, Mk2 has 1. Probably best to pop to fiat and get the second sensor as its only a few £ just to block up the hole.

The sensor on your one is the one with 2 pins, yes?

To be honest I don't remember, although I seem to remember 4 pins.

Just checked the car and its definately a 4 pin one.

Alternatively I could just go get both sensors if they aren't too expensive.

Ahh, so thats what they did on the Mk2

The Mk1 has a 1 pin sensor for the dash and a 2pin for the ECU.

Mine:

Yellow is the ECU sensor purple is the dash sensor. No idea of the part nums though, was AGES ago.

Thanks Tom, its the purple one I need to block up. Any recommendations where I can get it? Fiat were pretty clueless without a chassis number.

Couldn't see it on the shop4parts website either.

Other than that any ideas how I could block it without using a sensor?

It looks a pretty standard sender, go to your local car parts place with the thermostat and get anything that fits.
