Thermostat replacement on a HGT

Hi !!!

My temp gauge can't get above the 3rd mark from bottom of the scale, on open roads, so I assume that the thermostat is always open. Is it hard to replace it, and where is it?

The car still hesitates like a bitch for first few minutes from cold. but I measured 7.0sec 0-100km/h so everything is fine when it's warm.

Mine reads exactly the same as yours. I was gonna change the stat, but seeing as the heater warms up real quick I now reckon it's just how they are. Let me know if u find anything else out about it. Cheers matey

My TD100 temp gauge never goes above the 4th notch and usually sits somewhere between the 3rd and 4th mark.

I did have an airlock under the temp sender which I removed by squeezing the pipework around the thermostat with the engine running and hot. This stopped the gauge from being erratic.

Working temp

Does anybody know what is HGT's working temp?
My radiator fan switches on when the neidle touches 1st mark above the middle, so I assume it should alway sit on the middle. Right??

I have a HGT and it always runs on the middle mark. It states that in the handbook as well.

My HGT runs slap bang in the middle of the gauge and so far has never moved so much as a millimetre.
Would probably be different on the 147 though.

My only concern is working temp on open roads, say 60mph!
