No mines a petrol sx100 1600.
Hubby wanting me to get rid of it because of the mpg.
Hoping that I can find out why its soooo low.
Don't want to loose it.

Its had all the servicing that the book says to do. Its a 2000 model, a V reg.

It also seems to loose power at 30 miles an hour too. We have a 30 mph flat bypass here are you can tootle along at 30 and it feels like someones putting the brakes on for you very gently once in a while.

Related I don't know but annoying as I have noticed it on the motorway once or twice too.

On long fast motorway journeys I have had it up to around 50mpg on the display.

Tootling round town it gives between 32 - 38.

But remember, the multi readout is in US Gallons (unless you have it set on km per litre) which are smaller than imperial ones so you need to add around another 20% to the display (so your 30mpg is in fact 36).

I wish I had a read-out!!
My measurements are taken from doing a 'full tank to top up' reading and then doing the figures.

On my multi (see last post on the mpg accuracy thread), it only has a Miles and Trip readings and an odd --0 that I have no idea what it is. It doesn't change when I drive or nothing.

Any clues?

Oh yes, that was you - sorry!

A measured 30mpg would be only 24mpg on the readout - never been that low on mine.

But mine is a 1.9 JTD so I can't really be of any use - sorry.

I drove both before I bought a jtd, I'm glad I did as i don't think I could afford to live with 30mpg.

You can try a few things to eek out as much as possible:

Removing any extra weight in the car - anything in the boot for example, unused seats?

Any roof bars?

Inflate the tyres to the correct pressure and check them regularly.

We carry very little in the car. Its not used every day (except for the next 10 days for swimming lessons for my daughter).
We have no roof bars and the tyres are ok too.

If I took out the seats and stored them in the garage, then I could not use the garage as we can only just get this car in as it is!!
