People have moved in the house opposite. They are renting the place so it was rather sudden; no notice at all.

So the Panda has to go, and fast. I'm ringing a local scrappie tomorrow, which means that I won't have time to take much off before they come, especially as I'm taking the Tino in for its MOT tomorrow morning ;)

I've been agonizing over this decision for some time now as she has been standing all forlorn and quietly rotting away.

Just over a week ago the owner of the house had emptied the place and said I could keep it in the garage if I wanted. This was to be done this weekend, but a letter from her arrived today saying that people would be moving in today.

Ah well, it was inevitable but it will still upset me terribly ;)

I've seen them this evening. They thought it belonged to the landlord!

Oh BTW, he drives a BMW 5 series so I don't think they'll fall for it, but in any case the Panda's front end is currently held up by a pair of axle stands as the suspension is part dismantled B)

That's all a tremendous shame, but I suppose a quicker parting will be less painful than cannibalising - and have the pieces as reminders:(

never mind steve, it certainly is an end of an era!

i see you got in touch with that woman who has the other one tho!

couldn't you keep it in the attic?:D

Met Cognac 99 Brava 100 HSX, what do you want? cupholders? open door warning light? grow up!

If it has a sunroof can the new householders not use it as a skip?

Or fit a twin exhaust and you have a reasonable wheel barrow....

Some jokes never die

Thanks everybody for cheering me up as I need it - they are taking her away tomorrow (Monday)

As it's a free pickup, they are expecting a complete vehicle anyway (although I did take the clock, new battery and rear shelf). I wish I'd kept the old dizzy and coil as it has the Marelli electronic system fitted (as used on the Panda 4x4)

Oh, and I swapped three of the wheels with good tyres with my spares (with very little tread) ...

Tomorrow I put the keys and log book on the sunvisor and then go to work. I will try not to look back as I know it will deeply upset me :( - when I come home she will be gone.

That particular scrapyard is one I don't visit very often as most of the premises is usually knee-deep in mud so it's unlikely I'll need to go there again in the near future ...

Oh and the Red Panda is not 100% certain yet, but I'll give my neighbour a ring tomorrow and we'll see.

Cheers to everyone, you're all great to know :)

Oh and Martiny10, I used to drive a Skoda Estelle (the car before the Panda) so I am familiar with all the jokes :)

Steve, I am sorry to hear that. [V]

But you've got the red Panda on its way now. Do you know which model it is yet?

Well, the buggers didn't turn up, did they? [V]

Very painful. Monday evening I took the keys and logbook back and locked her up to make sure nothing happened to her ...

This is crazy - I actually sat in her before I went to work this morning and imagined myself driving her. Very silly thing to do because I felt that lump in my throat just like I am now writing about it. Time: 4.30 am !

Oops - got to get out of the office fast. I've got that feeling again :(

I've GOT to get the other Panda soon ...

I know the feeling. I felt the same when I had to part with my C reg after 10 years and 250,000 miles.
My theory is that as long as you can remember them and the fun times, they still live on.
Sentimental crap or what!
Happy Pandering.

Sentimental, but not crap. It shows we care! I've grown up though, as last time I got rid of a car I loved as much, I went on a drunken binge for a week [:0]

When I got home, she had gone. Not even a patch of oil to remember her by [xx(]

Hi all,

Last time I scrapped a car it took 8 days for the scrapper to collect it.

The neighbours were not amused driving past a partially deconstructed and rusty body shell for over a week.

The fog light issue is becoming a real problem where I live - also I hate people that adjust their headlight angle to the highest setting -great for them but hellish for oncoming traffic. Audi drivers are pretty bad too - though their biggest problem is locating the indicators.

Regards,

Martin

Today at 4 (sunny day hence like mid-day brightness) and coming down a hill (winchester street for the benefit of Steve) was an Audi driver with his headlights on. Granted they were dipped but no one even had their side lights on and probably didn't have until at least 5 today. I flashed him about 5 times because I was going up the fill and him coming down hence the angel was just that little bit worse. It isn't an easy hill to go up anyway sometimes due to large volumes of traffic on steep hill with not much spare room. I bet he was thinking "What is he flashing at?" Idiot.

Do you think front fogs should only be allowed on if rear fogs are switched on (i.e. single switch in all new cars)? I think it would be a good idea and would stop 90% of the idiots who drive permamently with them on day or night, clear or foggy! THe 10% would just remove their rear fog light bulbs but it would surely cut down on it.

It annoys me so much when somebody does it... it is illegal unless visibility is severely reduced (i.e. NOT NIGHT, NOT DUSK/DAWN, fog, heavy rain or snow) why is this so difficult to understand?

ENd of rant.

Oh, and I tried the above in traffic to a 40 something man with his window down going in the opposite direction:

"Do you want me to show you the switch to put those fog lights of yours off?"

Guess who got the finger, oh well!

Paul

My first signiture (a lot of thought put into it): If you can't find the switch to switch your fogs off I am sure I can help you! Damn fogs.

Good! I hope he did Steve.
