My insurance is due on 12th August.

So here I am looking for the best deal. My renewal with elephant was £380 but I am not happy with that.

So heres the spec

Female
24
1998 Fiat bravo 1.6sx (standard)
4 years NCB - No convictions
1 additional driver

Shelias wheels - £542 (n)
Admiral - £280
Churchill - £321
Peoples choice - £325

will go off and do more, i have been on confused and peoples choice topped it.

Now go back to Elephant and say 'where is my loyalty discount?'

My Elephant renewal was nearly £700, got it down to just over £500 with a bit of work (finding cheaper quotes) and going back to Elephant and saying their renewal is just not good enough.

Remember though that there is a bottom figure of around £250 that you'll never break through. If my insurance was sub £400 I'd be dancing in the streets - still :D

pah get that on a cinq turbo ;)

Try Yes Insurance, they can be lowered by a phone call and well mannered to talk to.

my insurance is due on 5th august. i just paid for another year on saturday. i used confused.com (cheapest as always)

my details
male
25
1998 Fiat bravo 1.8hlx (standard)
1 year NCB - 1 ban + 3 points

£438.11, the winner was endsleigh insurance. and i'm third party to drive any car.

so considering my car is 2 groups higher, im male, and i've been banned, your quote is a bit steep. i'd expect less than 300, if not whats the point of having a 1.6, you might as well get a 1.8 and get your money's worth.

Bloody Hell!

Think I'll be having stern words with my insurance company.. I'd expect the Marea and your 1.8 are similar insurance groups but I'm paying much more. Only 1 year younger and no points or bans. 3 years ncb.

dear me thats not fair, i thought i was getting ripped but it seems i was wrong. confused.com is ALWAYS the cheapest for me, i check dozens of sites and its never once been beaten. with a clean licence and 3 yrs NCB you should be paying less than me surely?!

How does the insurance on a cinq turbo compare to a Coupe 20VT?
I insured the Coupe for about £700 - 0 NCB (I have 6 years, but was using it on another car), 27 years old, no points, no claims, Sammi as a named driver.

in theory the insurance on a cinq turbo should be more due to its modifications, but in reality its still only a kiddy car and no matter what engine you put in it isnt worth much, so its less of an insurance risk for theft and crashing. i think it will be less. isnt the 20VT group 19 anyway? you can only get group 20 max so a 20VT is as bad as a ferrari for insurance. i still get quoted 900 for a non-turbo, thats just silly.

I think there are upto group 20 for normal cars. You then hit 'special' insurance groups for Ferraris and the like.

Surely 1 year older and where you live can't make that much difference though Jug. I'm gutted. Tried everywhere including confused, HIC, Adrian Flux, The AA, Morethan, Admiral, e-car insurance, tesco, asda..... Oh yes I spent a whole day getting quotes. £520 was as low as I could get it. Gutted.

I'll be wanting £300ish next year or i'll be making a claim!

You should find that at 25yrs old the premium will reduce a bit more as a few insurance companies class drivers under the age of 25 to be inexperienced
Not true as far as I was concerned. It came down a bit for me because I was slightly older and had an extra year's no-claims bonus, but not by any larger-than-normal amount.
Under-25 year olds - don't get your hopes up!

Depends on where you live. In Manchester I have a quote that is starting tomorrow (first insurance in my own name) and I'm paying £1053 (male, 20, 0 NCD, no mods, Bravo 1.4SX, Endsleigh). When I go to Huddersfield for university again this year it will drop down to £850 so my monthly payments will be less while I'm there.

Also for mods, I was told as I'm under 25 with less than 3 years NCD putting on a backbox will push it up to £2000, a full system £3000. That's Bravo HGT insurance for me.

Moving from my parents to my own house put my insurance up £40 last year! That is from the red cross to the green cross!

H is right - it doesnt come down just because your 25, it used to be that it would come down when you hit 29 but that doesnt happen anymore either.

Jug - Confused wasnt cheapest for me at all. It was at least £20 more than my cheapest quote. What brought it down evenmore for me was i used Hs postcode for where the car is kept. He is A and I am E, the car is there more than it is at home so its feesible to use it and its most likely to get damaged at his than mine as he lives in the town centre

Just keep phoning round and tell them your lowest and bat it down as far as you can. I have found that since I got a few years NCB and got a bit older, everyone comes in much the same (they used to vary by as much as £750 from top to bottom quotes) and it's not worth the hassle for £2 a month or something like that so I just renew.

Have you tried any more since? People have said good things about Tesco insurance, also Direct Line and Diamond? As for those policies that don't differ much in value, do they include legal cover and courtesy cars etc? They are things I like to have so don't mind paying a touch extra for them.

All those you have listed wanted £500 at least (n)
