Some people blank them off to get wastegate chatter. Most WRC cars etc run without a dump valve, however its not really advisable for a daily driver.

my nephew just bought an M reg civic turbo thing, i asked him if he had a dump valve on it and his reply was " no that bit a dump valve goes on to has been welded up" so i thought i'd ask here what was going on

its to get chatter on over run instead.... in the 'street' scene its the 'thing' to do as it sounds 'cooler' to the women as you give it a chchchchch as you go past.

oh it does reduce the performance of turbos, longer spooling times too as its usually spooling from a much lower rpm and can easily damage them.
