Ok, I have just gotten the head for my 1.6 16v Marea back from beng skimmed, New full head set, new timing belt, tensioner etc, the only new part that has not come in yet is the thermostat, I really want to get the car back together over the long weekend, so does anyone know how to test the original thermostat just so I can get the car back together?

I will be fitting the new one as soon as I get it, but as the car has been off the road for nearly two weeks its annoying my head and I just want to hear it starting again!!!!!!!

Please help! :bang:

Stick it in a pan of water, place the pan on the cooker and the thermostat should open before the water boils. If you have a thermometer to stick in the water, make sure it opens at the temp it says on the base of the thermostat.

Cheers for the help on that.

Got the car back together, but now it won't start, it just turns over and over but won't actually fire (n)

I checked for a spark and thats there, all the wiring seems to be connected and the code light is going off, is there anything simple I might have missed?
This car is starting to depress me
