Ok, First Post so here goes..

Last November my Alternator decided to shuffle off this mortal coil and die. After a visit to the local garage all was well.. or so I thought.
About two weeks later, while driving to work the temperature gauge went from reading normal to reading zero. It stayed like this for about a minute or so before the engine management light came on. Another minute passes and the temperature gauge wakes up, but only reads half of what it should be.
Anyway, the next morning, all is well. I start the car, head to work again, no engine management light. Until I hit the same spot on my journey (a roundabout at the bottom of a hill) and the gauge again reads zero, engine management light again reappears.
So, off I go again to the garage. They fit a new temp sensor and all is well for the next three days. Then it happens again. I go back, and they fit an original fiat part. Not a problem. Since that point all was good until the day before I have a service in December. So I ask the guys at the fiat garage to take a look. They could not find an issue. This has me slightly perplexed as I thought it may come up on the code reader.
I get the car back after resolving other issues with the car (rear light wiring loom, brake pads and the upper rear stop light) and all seems fine.
Now, the problem is back again, but this time the issue is lasting for several days at a time, but when left alone, i.e. on a day off and not using the car, it clears the issue and works fine, until I hit that point in my journey (approx. 50 minutes in) when the gauge then again reads zero and the management light comes on - rinse and repeat.
I have looked for leaks, loose wiring etc. and cannot see any issues. The local garage have looked, and the code fault is the same as before "Fuel Temp sensor - Intermittent". They found nothing wrong as stated before, and cleared the fault.

So, I am now very confused..

The only thing that remains consistent is the time the car travels for before the fault reappears; usually close to the 50 minute marker. I did however get to work on a very traffic free day, before the 50 minute marker.. and surprise, surprise, the fault did not appear.

Could someone shed some light for me..

Hi, :)
I would suspect an EARTH fault.., but maybe the alternator change is a hint.. lots of people on here have had the "wrong" alternator fitted.. leading to weird issues

( I had a scabby old mk2 that would go into "limp-home" after 1 hour, turn it off + back on it did another hour..!! rear wiper once turned on wouldn't stop..again - turn ign. off all reset)

UPDATE:
I have had the Alternator tested and verified and all seems fine, though it does not rule out an Earth fault. To be honest when I took it to the garage, the fault didn't appear; which was typical and had been fine for a few days before.
The mechanic did however replace the Temp sensor free of charge and is now the 3rd one that has been installed.

Unfortunately, the fault has reappeared this morning on the way to work, again. In addition, I did notice that the digital mileage readout was flashing when I started the car this morning. But on restarting the issue had gone.

I have read a few articles and asked by bro-in-law (RAF Mechanic) and thinks this could this be a battery (tested ok) or even a CAN BUS issue where one of the satellite sensors is out of kilter or not even registering?

I, on the other hand, have no idea...

(PO119 fault code)

Decided to go to an auto electrian. Every time i take it to a reqular garage, including FIAT, the problem still exists.
After getting it checked out yet again, the original issue still remains, although, I have now got additional problem of the radiator fan coming on when I turn the key to start the car.
