Technical Temperature gauge bounces

Hi All,
Got a slight problem with the temperature gauge on a Marea
Up until now the gauge has sat pretty much on or around the halfway mark then when returning from cornwall the gauge started to bounce up and down without any purpose.
It never goes up to the point of overheating and the engine itself is ok (no sign of coolant overheating etc) all it does is bounce above or below the halfway mark.
From what I have read some seem to think that it may be air in the system or maybe a faulty contact for the gauge itself.
It dosent do it all the time and when it does it is during different driving conditions.
Help please!

Hi,

If gauge settles down when you hit the dash on the top, just over the gauge, then it is a loose connection. If you want to cure it permanently, there is a guide on http://www.fiatboo.co.uk/fix-a-bravo.htm "Jumping temperature".
