Tailgate Lock

Hi, hoping someone can help - the tailgate on my Seicento will not close properly - something's not catching. The cable for remote opening went a while ago and since then I've just used the key. Any advice appreciated:dizzy2:

try spraying wd40 onto and into the lock mechanisim on the tailgate (the latch) then wiggling the key in the lock a few times with the tailgate open

my cinq did the same thing a few weeks ago, the boot latch catch was sticky and too slow to click in when the tailgate shut meaning it just bounced open again, lubrication fixed it immediatley

The other thing could be the actual release lever under the tailgate, prone to snapping as it's very thin metal.

Best thing then is go to your local scarppies armed with a 10mm socket & rachet, 5min job to remove the boot release, the fun comes when fitting onto your car 10min job Max.

Think I paid £5 for a boot relase lever.

Aye nay bother Nellie.

I pulled the boot release lever one day & the boot wouldn't open, couldn't work out way so went upto David's (rallycinq).

He found out that the release lever in the boot had snapped. Thin metal.
