Styling Tablet Dash Install/ Airbag Help

Ok so im looking at installing a tablet in my dashboard / interior soon(not an iPad, Dont like apple! :L

, now what im thinking is either mount the tablet on top of the passenger side dash (the big cut out bit above airbag & glove box) and getting custom made housing/surrounds <a href=http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a117/corsaboy1/interior.jpg>Here</a> and wiring the Tablet to the HU. Or taking out HU from where its located and placing tablet in their(better view) and relocating the HU. Now iv had a quick think on where to relocate it, and i was wondering is the passenger side airbag(just above glove box) an MOT requirement to have installed(I'm guessing it is but just checking), i'd preferably like to leave it in to be safe but it seems like an easy place to mount it, or where else would be suitable for relocating HU as im fairly limited on the amount of wiring :/:bang: unsure on what to do but i haven't seen this done before in a Punto and would like to do it! also i can pick up dashboards fairly cheap off ebay etc to use as a practice/ put into car so that shouldnt be a worry! Hi mate,

My advice would be to get a HGT centre console. Locate the Head unit in the single din slot for the CD changer. Will be much better than having your HU on the other side of the car so that you cant reach it, and wont require removing your airbag.

Ahhh i did'nt think of that! Will have a proper look into it tomorrow, are you suggesting leaving the HU where it is and putting a tablet in the lower CD thing or putting the HU down the bottom of the console & the tablet at the top where HU & air con is? I think ill do that though! thanks for the quick reply!

Personally id stick the headunit down the bottom and mount the tablet at the top where the original headunit was. Theres loads of space there to make a custom enclosure/ surround.

Sounds wicked! will try and get a tablet for my birthday soon then & buy a HGT centre console! and get this all wired in! now to pick a tablet! liking the idea of a a HTC Flyer..! Hehe, will keep you updated as i go along! probably wont be till the end of the month i get it done though as that's when my birthday is !

Oh and is the Centre console a straight swap into a 5Dr mk2 punto? mines the basic basic one!

Most things from higher spec models are interchangeable which includes center consoles, its just a matter of finding one thats in good condition.

Don't forget that it'll be on show to anyone walking past your car. I'd either make it removable or have something to cover it up at night

Great idea but a tricky mod. I recommend watching some YouTube videos of tablet installs to help u out. One that I enjoyed and found useful was by Mighty Car Mods. Just search them with word tablet on YouTube. Make sure u record ur steps for others to follow
