I found some performance statistics for the T-Jet in that I thought that some of you might not have seen. They come from an AutoExpress review.

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-reviews/40660/small-turbos-group-test-specifications

0-60mph, 8.8s
30-70mph through gears, 8.5s
30-50mph in 3rd, 4.9s
30-50mph in 4th, 6.3s
50-70mph in 5th, 7.6s
Max Speed, 121mph
Revs @ 70mph, 2900
Power, 120bhp 5000rpm
Torque, 206Nm @2000rpm

The 0-60 time seems a touch high, perhaps thats 0-62mph? The 50-70 time in 5th is probably the T-Jets ace in the hole, motorway acceleration is better than most :slayer: (though its largely thanks to the low gearing).

Official 0-62 is 8.9 Seconds, this is mainly due to the extra change into 3rd to hit above 58mph!

Is that it? 120bhp in a car that doesn't weigh that much surely faster than 8.8 seconds?

Mind you turbo lag I suppose.

The FIAT 500 twinair 14bhp or whatever it is has a 0-60 time of something similar?! LOL.

Faster than 8.9? What makes you say that? The Grande weighs around a ton, and 120bhp per ton isn't actually that good...8.9 is the best that can be hoped for really!

Obv didnt read the fact stated above that it needs an additional gear change to get to 58+MPH hence the 8.8 seconds!

The Grande Punto T-Jet weights more than 1 tonne surely, prob about 1100-1150?

Also, does fiat not time its 0-60 times, with a passenger and a tank of fuel? Makes the times the same as “real” life?

I always felt my M-Jet was quicker than the published time

Seen it now! Wonder why they geared it like that? Surely they'd have sold thousands more if the 0-60 time was better! :p

At 8.8s its more than competitive with other tepid hatches and does much better on other measures (i.e. The 50 to 70 time which is excellent).

For the record the official kerb weight of the t-jet is 1155kg.

I think the 500 twin air 84bhp has a 0 to 60 time of more like 11s.

Oh is it that heavy?! Actually yes it is, the doors weight a tonne each!

LOL just read the 0-60 on the 1.4 8v, 13.8 seconds!!!
It's actually 12.8, ignore sources that say 13.6, you'll find some claim 13.6 and others (normally more recent) say 12.8 which is correct, still pretty bad but I wanted to confirm (y)

(Although I've yet to actually test my own, I don't know any anywhere suitable to do it )

Tbf I'm surprised it can even hit 60...lol.
