General Swopping Porsche for Abarth

Well, I will say no as well, sorry.
I have a 2.5 boxter for the sunny weekend, not as quick as the 911 and I had the 1.4 sport for a few days (not Abarth I know). Dont get my wrong, the 500 sport is fun car to drive and is quick enough most of the time, but its 1.4 engine not the best enigne for the motorway and it get bully :bang: by bigger cars. I said to myself: you are lucky I'm not in my boxster or my Bravo Mjet 150 (my daily car).
So based on this, I would not down size from a 911 to abarth, but good luck, the abarth might work out better for you.

Personally I have as much fun in my 60bhp Uno as I do in my Boxster (mecahnically modified) or supercharged Jag!

Its not about the power, its how you use it!

I`m suprised you had agro with your 993, its generally regarded as 1 of the best of all 911`s, usually they are as reliable as a normal car, take constant ragging in their stride & remain reliable up to galactic mileages.

I had a couple of 911`s in the past (+ 924`s & 944`s) & found them all impeccably reliable. The only breakdowns I`ve suffered is a blown clutch in a 944 S2 convertible @ 109,000 miles & knackered airflow meters (@ £600 a pop) in the Boxster which turned out to be because of the induction kit I initally put on.

I like the 500, but as I`ve said elsewhere, Fiats significantly overcharging for it (as is Alfa with the Mito) & I`m not someone who will happily overpay for a car because its seen a fashion accessory!

If I was in your position, I`d have kept the 993 (as its now an appreciating classic) & have got a Panda 100hp or GP Eleganza.

I have a 500 1.4 Sport and it's usually me bullying other drivers on the motorway

What he said. I drive 40 miles a day on the M1 and the number of people I menace in a 500 is astonishing. Mind you most of them are talking on a phone without handsfree/yelling at kids/eating/reading/doing 60mph.

:)

(y) Agree~~ The boxster was the most reliable I have owned, the only time it couldn't start was a flat battery during winter and I cant even get to the battery as there are no power to release the latch~~ AA man knows what he doing though~~~

Have you did it to me??
Seriously, It wasn't like they want to run you off the road kind of bully, but they just want let the 500 pass, I drove up behind them, they take a look in their mirror and think, well its only a fiat 500, then they just stay there!!!! When I drive my Bravo or boxster, they move out of the way super fast.
No such problem in the town though, ppl seem to like it. (y)

Yeah, that is a pain, but I dont use mine for the winter so I leave it with the bonnet open (& something on the lock so it doesnt get shut accidently!)

I havent used mine since... October?

To be honest I`m having so much fun in the Uno, I`ve not bothered MOTing & taxing the Boxster!

Heres pics of the Boxster (yes, I ride the bike sometimes too!) & a couple of my old ones.

I do appeciate what you are saying. I have been seduced many times by heartbreaking sexy classic cars as I have by heartbreaking sexy women if you will please excuse sexist comparison. I find 911s boring, fallen out of love with them, have you ever been to a Porsche owners club meeting? My 86yr old mothers bowling club is more fun!
Abarth 500SS is one sexy babe and I aint giving up yet

Yes at last some one with a sense of independance, black looks so good, and if you like to suprize people, then this colours just right, they never know it's an Abarth till you go past them.

I got the titanium wheel colour, it makes it look the doggies doo dah.
:)
ADS Please put some more photos up. I have to wait til October you understand!!!???;)
