Anyone else have this problem or know what causes it?

Back in early September I was on holiday. We did a long road journey that circled from Belgium to northeastern France. The temperatures here high and the airco was on nonstop for several days. Most of the driving was on motorways and I got up to around 100 MPH in some places and rarely below 80. Anyway, my front seat passenger (I have a LHD version, so it's the driver's side in the UK) noticed his backpack was wet from lying on the floor in front of him. Sure enough, the carpet was QUITE wet and it did not come from anything in the backpack. A few days before we got to this point, I washed the car with a high pressure system. I didn't notice anything strange and neither did my passengers. The floor was wet only at the right front and no where else. It was not raining and all roads travelled were dry. Did this come from the high pressure car wash, the airco, or from another source. Has anyone here had this problem, even with another model, and can explain why it happened and what the cure is?

Thanks

Should be too hard / expensive to fix with the know how.

I think you meant shouldn't :)

But if the cars new enough (being an Idea probably unless its 3rd yr warrenty) you should be able to get it fixed under warrenty.

a friend of mine had the same thing happen to him 2 summers ago in his Fiesta... i think it had something to do with the air conditioning, but wasn't that much to fix

A girl I know who works at a local Fiat Stealership told me that a load of Punto has grommets missing from the dash meaning water could get in from the bulkhead.

Either that or the matrix is leaking but whatever it maybe it's surely covered by the warranty.

Thanks, everyone for your help. I'll have a chat with the garage at the next service as I'm not likely to be using the airco for quite a while. Yes the car is just six months old and is still under warranty.
