hey! im lowering my car 50mm, its punto mk1. im not sure who to go for, im lloking for looks aswell as performance, im sure that either on will have the same looks, but i was looking at gmax suspension, and spax suspension. any help guys? im not sure on the quality of any of these as id like to keep a smooth ride. im not bothered about prices.
thanks in advance guys

Hi Rich,

From what I have picked up on the forum, avoid G-Max stuff. The SPAX RSX coilover kits however represent excellent value (I believe there is a £50 off offer on Spax direct at the moment). The Punto GT guys use and abuse the RSX kits with no horror stories - they seem to be pretty much fit-and forget reliable.

I have however noted that you would like to maintain as smooth a ride as possible. This may be where the Spax kit doesn't quite score full marks - they tend to be a bit hard. This is subjective though, and you have plenty of tuning scope in both ride height and damping to attempt to dial this out.

thanks for the help. very useful. im looking more for the spring set, cant quite afford the coilovers, so after the dampers and springs. but im more over towards the spax any way rather than going for the gmax kit.

The Spax VSX kits represent excellent value. For handling, 30-40mm is pretty much ideal since it maintains good camber on the front wheels. 50mm will be Ok too though. In fact, when I finally get round to the handling mods, I shall be using the dampers from the VSX kit, but the 30mm Eibach Proline springs instead of the Spax SSX. If smoothness of ride and handling are more of a priority than the aesthetics of an extra 20mm lowering, you might want to consider this route too.
