I thought a private auction meant that the bidders identity is not revealed even if they win the auction. On all other auctions that go over £100 the winning bidders identity is shown, it's all the other non winning bidders that are hidden.
When you are listing things now you have the option of making the auction private, stops people contacting the bidders offering them the same item cheaper etc

Probably removed for shill activities. The only reason for making an auction private in the new format. Why anybody would pay anything like £440 for a set of tacky looking seats is beyond me, but that's just my opinion.
