hey everyone i know this might sound stupid but i am having some trouble fitting a sunstrip 2 my mk2 punto the boys in blue told me to remove my old 1 because it interfered with the wipers. i was told it wasnt allowed in the path of the wipers so i need to know how 2 put it on without it looking terrible

if anyone has done this pictures would be great

cheers people

We use to have them back in the eighties, do you mean the vinyl ones at top of windsreen? unless they've changed they stuck on the inside so don't affect the wiper blades.;)

I think they do just stick on the inside of the window but you need to make sure the bottom of the strip doesnt touch the wipers when they are active, otherwise you will ge tpulled up again by the police - think it's illegal now.

Not too sure tbh, i recently had my one fitted and its internal, the guy refused to make it any bigger than it is so it didnt touch the wipers..? o_O

Also, I think it's illegal because of the amount of reduced visibility it causes.. My sunstrip is 85% i think so if it was too low it would seriously reduce visibility..

I guess thats the way they see it?

its one that goes on the outside but if i made it so tht it didnt touch the wipers it would only be about 30mm in width doesnt really seem worth it at tht size

OOOps, i've had a sunstrip on mine for over 2 years, its went through 2 MOTs with no probs, i think ur right if it encroaches on the wipers then its illegal and it should be removed, just depends i suppose on who can be bothered to enforce it

I bought one from halfrauds for £10, covers half of my MK1 Punto screen - will need to cut it down.

Also the fact the wipers reach all the way to the top of the screen o_O I can only have like 1" of a sun strip according to the law then?
