After much perusing of various sunroof leak repair threads I decided to tackle a minor leak at the front driver's side on the JTD.
So I armed myself with tools and a lot of black sealant, intending to seal the entire frame/roof interface.
Following dropping the head lining (surprisingly straightforward) I decided to do a leak test and took a hose to the roof which revealed a blockage of the right rear drain hose. I traced the blockage to a kink in the pipe where it passes through the boot floor. This was leading to a small waterfall onto the rear seat. I'd never noticed any dampness on the liner in the back of the car, but that may be because I usually park facing downhill. Simple re-routing of the hose was enough to clear the blockage.
My invesigations also led me to discover that my leak in the front was coming from where the plastic drain hose connecter attaches to the sunroof frame. So I very carefully sealed the joins between plastic and metal at all 4 corners. Then after allowing the sealant to dry, I repeated my leak test with the hose on full flow.
No leaks! :slayer:
I'll also be replacing the seal around the edge of the sunroof if I can buy it separately, and will be keeping a beady eye on the roof lining for any repeat dampness.
Hope this might be a little help to anybody else with the same issue.
