Does anyone know where I'd be able to find an idiots guide to sealing up the sunroof on a 99 1.2 Brava?
I bought this car today and I'm bringing it back to the seller (whos father is a mechanic) to see where the flood of water that came in on my way home from his place in a downpour came from.
Is it just a case of getting it seated properly, removing the outer rubbers and tiger sealing around the outside?
The sunroof wont open on either of the settings (back end open or fully open) it moves a bit them sticks solid, Id like to be able to get it open to check the drain holes etc but I dont want to force it.
Any help would be appreciated.

I did mine using black perminantly flexible silicone sealant from a motorfactors, I put masking tape around the metalwork. Opened the sunroof all the way, put as much round the metal as i could then closed the sunroof and filled the rest from above. You will be fine just doing it from above since yours is jammed.

I would not change my decission to seal the sunroof up really happy with it, and it doesnt look a mess..

Looks like a grand tidy job alright.
did you lift the seal on the glass and seal under it so stop any water weeping in?
Mine is currently 'fixed' with duct tape for the moment ( the most useful material since the wheel in my opinion) (y)

Ok, I got around to doing this job this evening with the mechanic ( a very nice guy btw)
We managed to open the sunroof by the easy way of removing the the screws and ripping it out :D
A shed load of Tec7 and masking tape later and now all I have to do is wait till tomorrow to see if the job is done. Im going to pour a few buckets of water over it and hope there's no flood inside :yuck:
I'll stick up a few pics when I have it tidied up.

Hehe.

Can I advise you check after each bucket? No point pouring 12 buckets of water in your car if you can see the leak after one.

Speaking as one who's sunroof was already sealed after e bought it I can only imagine the frustration.

Got the job done. No Leaks so far anyway and we've had some crappy weather since.
I made sure the drain holes were clear ahen we had the roof off, they were blocked solid.
I left the tape on for a day and used some degreaser from work to disolve it off, I had to use duct tape on day one so the roof was covered in residue anyway so it sidnt really matter.
One thing I would say to anyone else doing the job is to tape a sheet or similar to the roof coz having an unnoticed blob of black Tec7 on your elbow when working on a white car can be nasty

I now have a manual sunroof opening key that is surplus to requirements if any one wants it. PM me and I'll send an address for the SAE. (y)
Thanks for all the help.
