Have had my Scudo for a few months now and have used it daily without any problems till yesterday.

Driving to work and maybe doing 50mph when it suddenly cut out, opened bonnet but could not see anything amiss so off I go again (started easy) after a couple of mins, got maybe 3 mins when same thing happened, was like this all the way to work and then on way home.

Today I changed diesel & air filters but problem is still there?? Been told (my woman at works hubbie who is a mech) that it is most likely glow plugs or a sensor that is giving me grief - anyone any ideas.

As diesels do not use a spark to ignite the fuel, they can run on when you don't want them to. To prevent this, there is a solenoid valve that closes the fuel supply when you switch off.

If this is shutting down when it shouldn't, it will cut the fuel supply, and therefore the engine. My guess is that this is a likely culprit.

But: Cause?

A faulty solenoid valve. Easy to replace.

Or it could be nothing wrong with the valve, but is being told to shut down.
Some vehicles will shut this down if the oil pressure drops. Check the oil level. If oil level is low, sharp braking or cornering may cause a surge and momentary drop of pressure, cutting the engine.
ECU could develop a fault.
If the ignition key tries to move towards "off" it would cut this. Is the ignition key switch worn? Do you have a lot of heavy stuff hanging on the key ring? Separate it to key only.

You probably need someone to look at it with these things in mind, and with a diagnostic reader to see if there are any fault codes logged.

Hope this helps a little. Hopefully someone with more experience of Scudo will also post.

Will double check oil level when I get home, key is new and nowt else on it so can rule that out.
Cheers

Classic symptoms for the high pressure pump being knackered on the scudo. We always look for the cheap and simple fix first and usualy waste a lot of money on bits it dont need, after wasting a lot of money we end up doing the expensive bit anyway makeing it even more expensive.

So today as I had time I checked oil and its got plenty. Also had a long check of connections everywhere and all seems good. Changed fuel and air filter just in case.
So went to start it as its going to get looked at but now it won't start - bugger!!'
