I wonder if anyone could help me with this one.

Just recently put a 54 plate Doblo 1.9 jtd with 156,000 miles on as a taxi.
It seems to pull to the right when you accelerate and pull badly to the left when you release the accelerator.
It also seems to randomly pull sharply right when driving on the motorway as if hit by a high wind on perfectly still nights.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so what was at fault.

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the tyre pressures are equal?
Have you checked the tyre sizes? (It has been known to happen!)
There may also be a problem with the wheel alignment - it may not have been done on a 54 plate since it was built & someone may have kerbed it (or even a pothole) causing the mis-alignment.
These days, alignment is generally done front to back as well as across the front.

Hi there,
Yes I had exactly the same problem it was pretty scary untill fixed.
Check the drop arm bushes you will find they need replacing.

I would go for a badly worn bottom ball joint, on one of the front suspension arms. Its difficuilt to tell which one is worn untill you jack the front up. Replacement arms are avilable from good motor factors at about £40 each side, changed both of mine twice.

The supension arm or drop arm has bushes which can be replaced, slightly
cheaper job than replacing the whole arm.
that is your problem.
Cheers,

Hi Doblo Taxi driver,

My 53 plate Doblo has just started with the same problem which I thought was tyre pressures to begin with. Have you had the bushes replaced and did this cure the fault? My car has 54,000 miles which is a lot less than yours. The local garage had a quick look but couldn't find anything wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.
