strange electrical problem

i have just got a p reg brava as my 1st car. i have had to replace the indicator switch as it was faulty. the left indicator only worked if the brakes were not being pressed. if the brakes were on and the car was in reverse the fog light indicator light came on but the fog lights did not. this still happens even after i have changed the switch and the indicator now works normally. i have checked the repair guide on this site and not found anything to explain this. so any help would be great. especially if it is something i can do myself. thanks.

hi,
Yes it seem a bit strange . the first thing to check is the earths for lights/indicators etc. If they look at all "dodgey" remove from the body and give them a good clean up with emery cloth. refit the the earths and give it a go.

loose earth/dodgy connectors mate mine did this the other day. take em off clean em up chuck em back on again!

As Tom says, Rear Light cluster. Well known for this problem
